Your Money Coach

We mean it when we say “It’s your Money, Choose your Path.” You work hard to earn it and you know what’s important in your life. Personal Finance Guides (money coaches) invest years learning and staying current on the tricks of the money trade. Call 720-564 2279, email hcinfo@bouldercounty.org or visit the website to set a meeting. Sessions are free, confidential, one-on- one, and open to everyone. We listen to learn where you are and where you want to be. We create small, natural next steps together to help get you there.

If a bank account is along your path, we will help you figure out what to look for and how to start. Even if you have had a bad banking experience before or just know you are spending too much on fees, Boulder County Personal Finance Guides can look through the Bank On accounts to help you choose. Remember, we are not bank employees, so we help you look from the outside in to find the best fit.

Or maybe your next step is cleaning up credit to buy a home or car with the best interest rate. Money coaches review your credit report with you, and point to the best ways to improve it. If your next step is paying off debt, coaches explain your rights with collectors, find best payment options, and partner to get you started. Or you just need someone to help you figure out where to start. Money coaches will meet you where you are and partner with you to design that next step – and EVERYONE has a next step with money!

Group Learning

Some like to travel their money path in groups. Small workshops are a great way to gather facts, learn some things about how money works, and start you thinking about your own route with money.

Tips about workshops:

1. Think about who is giving the information and make sure they are not trying to sell you something;

2. Avoid being overwhelmed – find a workshop specifically about something you want to work on next instead of one that tries to teach you all about money in 90 minutes!;

3. Find workshops that make you want to take action; and

4. Connect with a financial coach after the class to turn what you learned into action steps.

Ready to go? Here’s a calendar and listing of upcoming workshops offered through Boulder County. There are workshops on banking, credit, organizing money stuff and much, much more (nothing to sell you!).
